About Rimga

I will bring honesty to this conversation.

I bought my home in Encinitas many years ago as an investment in my family's future. At the same time, I also bought some small rental properties in Los Angeles as investments meant to build wealth and passive income, not charities. This is the tension at the heart of our housing crisis. Housing in America is our greatest household wealth-builder, and our policies encourage us to want our home values to rise. But rising values often mean higher rents, higher prices, and less affordability for the next generation. So, as we all work hard to build security for ourselves, we see more and more neighbors, seniors, and young families unable to afford to stay in Encinitas.

When we step back, we see that what is framed as a 'housing shortage' is also a system of incentives by the Federal Government, State Government and Wall Street that push prices up while telling Main Street to solve the affordability problem by building more.

We need to address the incentives that drive housing costs, not just point fingers or build without a plan. We can protect stability for those here while ensuring Encinitas remains a community with a diverse housing stock that welcomes residents of varied income levels-renters, new home owners, and seniors who want to age in place. Together let's find practical, balanced solutions that preserve community character while providing affordable housing opportunities.
